A Night to Remember: How to Host a Stunning Book Launch Party + Tips from My Sacred Creativity Event

This past week, we celebrated the launch of my book, Sacred Creativity, with an intimate and unforgettable evening at The Plant Penthouse. The event was everything I had hoped for—filled with warmth, love, and inspiration. As I reflect on the night, I also want to share some insights and tips for those of you who might be planning your own book launch party. Whether you’re looking for ideas or just need a little inspiration, I hope my experience can help guide you in creating a meaningful and memorable event.

Laughing as I share a welcome speech for my guests.

The Perfect Venue: Choosing a Space with Heart

The Plant Penthouse was the ideal venue for my launch. The owner, Shayla Owodunni has brought to life a beautiful space with her gift of creating beautiful spaces, and love of caring for plants. With its lush greenery and stunning interior design, it provided a beautiful and inspiring atmosphere. It also held personal significance, as I had previously painted a mural in Shayla’s studio, which guests got to see in person and take photos with. This connection made the event even more special.

Tip: Choose a venue that resonates with your book’s theme or holds personal significance. A meaningful connection to the space will make the event feel more authentic and memorable.

Curating the Experience: Engaging All the Senses

We began the evening with a brief introduction to Sacred Creativity, sharing its dedication and the heart behind its creation. From there, guests enjoyed delicious bites catered by Roots for the Soul, a beautiful charcuterie spread, and desserts handcrafted by my sister, Loryn, an amazing pastry artist. The food was not only delicious but also a reflection of the warmth and care I wanted to infuse into the night.

Tip: Curate an experience that engages your guests’ senses. Whether it’s food that ties into your book’s theme or a special activity, thoughtful details make the event memorable.

Adding Visual Interest: Creating a Stunning Photo Backdrop

A standout feature of the night was our photo backdrop, designed and sponsored by DeWayne Events. They brought to life a beautiful display with a bookshelf lined with copies of my book, cascading balloons, which paired perfectly with the exquisite tile wall by Mercury Mosaics in The Plant Penthouse space. It was a visually captivating focal point that gave guests a fun and interactive way to engage with the event. They also made sure to include a mini balloon arch by the entrance sign.

Tip: A well-designed photo area adds a layer of fun and makes your event more shareable on social media. Partner with creatives who can help bring your vision to life.

Making It Personal: A Touch of Bloom

To make the event even more special, we set up a teacup floral bouquet bar where guests could create their own arrangements to take home. This small touch was a reflection of the message in Sacred Creativity—blooming in your own way. For a unique touch, my friend created special recreated versions of the book and had flowers blooming from them, as displays throughout the space.

Tip: Incorporate a hands-on activity that ties into your book’s message. This creates a lasting connection for your guests and gives them something tangible to remember the event by.

Connecting with Guests: The Power of Personal Interaction

I made time to sign books for everyone who purchased or brought their copy. This personal interaction was a highlight for me, allowing me to connect directly with my readers. Sharing that moment with everyone who attended was truly meaningful.

Tip: Include time for personal connections, whether through a book signing, Q&A, or casual conversations. These moments can be the most impactful part of your event.

Planning Your Own Event: Stay True to Your Vision

If you’re planning a book launch, remember that the most important thing is to make it personal. Focus on creating an experience that reflects your book’s message and your unique voice. Whether your event is large or small, what matters most is that it resonates with you and your guests.

Tip: Stay true to your vision and let your creativity shine. Your book launch is a celebration of your hard work and creativity, so make it something that feels authentic and joyful.

Just The Beginning : More To Come

As with all book launches, this event was just the beginning! I’m excited to announce that I will be doing a mini book tour. From book signings to creative panels and classes, there will be a few opportunities to connect and share in the message of Sacred Creativity in the coming months. Stay tuned for dates—I'd love for you to join me on this journey.

If you’d like Jena to make a visit and share this message with a group or would like to book Jena to speak send an email to hello@spoonfuloffaith.com.

Thank you to everyone who made the night so special. Here’s to more gatherings, more creativity, and more inspiration!
